From busted cameras… to avoiding malaria… to dealing with talent… Laura will share her antidotal stories of her adventures from the shooting for Survivorman to Shark Week with Discovery to Les Stroud’s Beyond Survival. You will have the opportunity to put your questions to Laura at The Bushcraft Show 2012.

Laura Bombier is ranked amongst Canada’s finest photographers. Whether she’s slogging through the jungles of Papua New Guinea or flanked by models in the streets of Toronto, Laura knows what it takes to capture that critical moment. Never ceasing to challenge herself in new ways while creating unique work opportunities, Laura can add Official Stills Photographer for survival expert and Canadian icon Les Stroud to her growing list of experience and international photographic awards. Whether Laura is “harnessing the power of the camera to achieve social goals” with contributions to PhotoSensitive, one of the numerous charities she works with, or attending coveted social events such as dinner with the Queen of England during her 2010 Royal Tour, Laura’s professionalism and passion for the human spirit is re-told with every creative project she undertakes. Laura’s work has been featured in numerous publications including Men’s Journal, Canadian Geographic and Cottage Life Magazine. An incredible underwater camera operator and avid diver, Laura has been instrumental in the campaign to help ban shark finning worldwide.

‘Woodland Beers’ are available at The Bushcraft Show 2012 courtesy of Tollgate Brewery who produces craft beer and ale in the traditional manner – by hand with the finest ingredients, using English malts and hops from around the world to produce beers with real flavour and a light touch.

Their specialty is a range of beers based on local trees. From Chestnut, a smooth brown ale, to Willow, a light bodied beer, Tollgate Brewery hits the spot for bushcraft enthusiasts at The Bushcraft Show 2012.

Tollgate Brewery brew their beer in the Heart of the National Forest, based at Southwood House Farm owned by the National Trust in an area of outstanding beauty. The barn was converted for their business but before they could move in, due to existing bat roosts, the National Trust built two ‘bat lofts’ and a long corridor in the apex of the roof to join these lofts. During building work extra bat and bird boxes have been provided to mitigate any potential disturbance. These new boxes will provide long-term benefits to all local bat and birdlife.

Tollgate Brewery operate their business in an environmentally friendly way always considering both the customer and the environment. Tollgate Brewery is very green! The brewing process itself produces two significant waste products, spent malt, and hops. All spent malt is taken away and fed to local livestock within 3 miles of the brewery and the used hops are collected and recycled as an additive to compost. They use a small amount of cleaning materials, which are re-cycled as much as possible and then disposed of carefully.

The drinking vessels that will be used at The Bushcraft Show are 100% Biodegradable and 100% Compostable as they are made from plant starch.

Available to drink at The Bushcraft Show will be a range of woodland beers, cider, larger, red & white wine, soft drinks and a special ‘Bushcraft Beer’ is also being brewed for The Bushcraft Show 2012.

Bushcraft Show ‘Woodland Beer’ Gift Packs will be available at The Bushcraft Show 2012 for you to take to your tent, take home or take away as a gift for friends. Priced at only £7.50! Their bottled beer is conditioned in the bottle with no additives so qualifies as ‘Real Ale’ as defined by CAMRA and is suitable for Vegans.

We have a host of new and exciting things happening at The Bushcraft Show 2012. First off, we have a fabulous new location. Whilst the YMCA Lakeside is a stunning location, they are no longer able to offer their site for public access events. Our team of intrepid explorers searched the country to find a gorgeous spot that would provide the perfect setting for such an event, allow access across the country and facilitate more time to set up. Elvaston Castle & Country Park is a magical place for The Bushcraft Show 2012, set in the heart of Derbyshire.

The park opened in 1970 as one of the first country parks in England. This stunning location encompasses 200 acres of open parkland, woodland, lakes, historic gardens and a huge showground, which provides the perfect setting for The Bushcraft Show 2012.

The park has a Bridleway, Foot Paths, Cycle Routes and a super Nature Reserve with 6 Bird Hides, a Wetland Area, Reed Bed, Heronry, Butterfly Area, Dragonfly Area, Reptile Basking Area, Newt Pond and much more, ensuring that you will see a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The lake, not normally available for public access, will be at our disposal for the weekend, fires will be permitted and this year, dogs will be welcome at The Bushcraft Show, so book your ticket now!
