The Bushcraft Show 2012 is at the picturesque Elvaston Castle and Country Park in Derbyshire, opened in 1970 as one of the first country parks in England. The park encompasses approximately 200 acres of open parkland, woodland, lakes and more formal (grade 2 & 2*) historic gardens. A nice big showground that is dry and level provides the perfect setting for the social area, classrooms, demonstrations, trade stands and field camping. Woodland areas bordering the showground provide woodland camping and the stage for woodland-based activities.

The park has a Bridleway, Foot Paths, Cycle Routes, a wide variety of flora and fauna and a super Nature Reserve with 6 Bird Hides, a Wetland Area, a Reed bed, Heronry, Butterfly Area, Dragonfly Area, Reptile Basking Area, Newt Pond and much more…

Directions – By Road
The estate is located off Borrowash Road (B5010) in Elvaston, 4 miles south-west of Derby. The park is well signposted off both the A6 and A52. From the M1 north bound take the A50 exit followed by the A6 Alvaston turn off, then follow the brown tourist signs.

Facilities

Caravan/ Small Motor Home – There is some space available for caravan and small mobile home camping. Please book this with the show organizers in advance. Should you require electric hook-up there is a Caravan Club campsite at the venue, this is just a two minute walk from the showground click here or call 01332 573735

Bush Tucker – A wide range of catering facilities are available at the show and local companies will be selling their produce for you to cook should you desire.

Toilets/ Showers – There are numerous toilet and shower facilities around the site, please refer to the sitemap.

Parking – There are various parking areas for weekend and day visitors and separate parking for trade stands. Please refer to the sitemap. Staff will direct you once onsite.

Telephone – There is a landline payphone available in the Castle courtyard.

First Aid – A First Aid point and staff are available at Base Camp. Staff will have radios to arrange any assistance that may be needed.

Disabled Facilities – There are disabled toilets and showers at the show.

Rubbish – Rubbish bins are located around the showground.

Recycling – Please use the recycling bins to dispose of items that can be recycled.

Camp Fires – Campfires are permitted on a leave no trace basis within the camping areas.

Shop – There is a shop located in the courtyard of Elvaston Castle & Country Park selling snacks, local produce and souvenirs.

Café – There is a café located in the courtyard of Elvaston Castle & Country Park.

Information Point – The information point is located at BASE CAMP.

Tourist information – There is a tourist information point based in the courtyard shop of Elvaston Castle & Country Park.

Children’s play area – There is a children’s play park located just outside the showground where young children can play.

Nature Trail/ Wildlife area – The trail is an easy circular walk that is relatively flat. Walking Distance 2 miles. Allow 1.5 hours. Bridleway/ Horseriding Trail – There is a bridle way in and around Elvaston Castle and Country Park

Dogs – Dogs are allowed at The Bushcraft Show 2012, there are plenty of picturesque areas to walk your dog throughout the weekend. There are dog waste bins around the site and there will be water available at various points for dogs to drink. Please note dogs must be kept on a lead within the showground and camping areas.

Cycle Path – There is a National Cycle Network Path around Elvaston Castle and Country Park. So feel free to bring your bike! Click here
