Watersports Extravaganza at The Bushcraft Show 2017

The Bushcraft Show 2016 saw huge crowds milling around the lakeside in order to try their hand at canoeing. Feedback from last year has been hugely enthusiastic so this year we are ramping-up the water based activities considerably!

A hat-trick of threes…..

In summary there is three times the fun with canoeing, kayaking, SUP’s, zorbing and cardboard boat racing on three different lakes.

2017 sees us team up again with award winning watersports and adventure activities company Canoe Trail who will provide a range of activities for all ages and abilities with expert instructors on hand throughout the three day event.

Have a go at Canoeing and Kayaking

With Canoe Trail

This is a pay-on-the day activity and will cost a very reasonable £6.00 per adult (children; half price).

After the Canoe Trail team have briefed you, you will don your buoyancy aid prior to taking to the lake for an excursion of approximately twenty minutes duration. First come first served so get down to the lakeside as early as possible to secure your place.

You can also bring and launch your own canoe on one of the three lakes at Beehive Farm.

Canoe Camping Clinic

With Tim Gent

Tim Gent, regular Bushcraft & Survival Skills Magazine contributor and author of Canoe Camping, will be holding a number of ‘open camp’ troubleshooting sessions. Do you have a question about canoe choice, tents, sleeping kit, axes, loading, in fact anything to do with a canoe camping trip? Why not drop in to Tim and Susannah’s lakeside campsite and ask away.

Zorbs

With Canoe Trail

Can you walk on water? Try running on it!

Have a ‘whale of a time’ in one of our hugely popular Zorbs – this is a pay-on-the day activity.

£5.00 for approximately 5mins duration.

Stand Up Paddle Boards

With Canoe Trail

Race on one of our giant SUP’s.

This really is a great way to spend some time on the water. SUP is the fastest growing watersport (for a reason!!) If you haven’t tried it – now is your opportunity. Our Giant SUP’s allow 6-8 people to race as a team in Hawaii 5 ‘O style or just enjoy paddling one of our single SUP’s.

£6.00 per adult and £3.00 per child (min. aged 5 years old) for an approximate 20 minute water time.

First come first served so get down to the lakeside as early as possible to secure your place.

Cardboard box boat race………….Seriously?

With Canoe Trail

Just for a blast, this year sees Canoe Trail introduce a new concept – yes, a boat made out of cardboard and a bit of tape!

You will be given some flattened cardboard boxes and some duct tape but various challenges throughout the construction process may possibly earn you extra materials – You will potentially need them!

This is a fun challenge and you may just end up getting wet so bring some suitable clothing/old trainers or water shoes.

Bring along your friends & family – you’ll need all of the support you can get.

The challenge is free to enter but you may want to make a charitable donation on the day – thank you!

Register yourself or your crew (team name please) in advance as spaces will be limited at what is destined to be mega fun – email richard@canoetrail.co.uk

Teams will build their card board box boats at their leisure during Sunday with racing taking place  at 4pm.
