In this class you’ll learn and practice authentic artistic techniques from the Celtic Iron Age. You’ll begin by making pigments from natural earths and minerals, before mixing these into simple paints using binders such as egg, casein and water. Using materials including feathers, animal hair and plant matter, you’ll make simple paint brushes, and then channel Celtic creativity to add patterns and colour to objects which you can take home.
Caroline is a specialist in the late Iron Age and has a strong passion in bringing the past to life through cookery and arts. She has a university background in archaeology and heritage, and has worked at the Roman Baths Museum, and Mary Arden’s Farm, a Tudor working farm near Stratford upon Avon.
