1948 Original Equipment has been conceived from experience, necessity and a desire to shape the future. Many great explorers, sportsmen and pioneers have made subtle modifications to their equipment to make tomorrow a little better. A group of friends, following in these footsteps, decided to do the same and 48 OE was born. We are a specialist company that provides equipment, clothing and gear for anyone interested in expeditions, travel and the great outdoors.
Our very own 1948 Land Rover inspired us to appreciate how good things can last. Our own travels have broadened an appreciation of nature, landscape and community. This and a feeling of responsibility steers our product selection. We understand that not everyone has a green agenda, but when we can, let’s do the right thing. We have chosen to power our office and warehouse with green electricity and use where possible recycled packaging.
By buying products that will last and that can be repaired, we can all do our bit. Disposable fashion may have become a trend in some quarters – we think it is wrong and want to reverse this. We do not want to preach but just offer a way of ‘Thinking a little differently’.

Fjӓllrӓven’s story began in 1960 when a young man named Åke Nordin started manufacturing innovative framed backpacks from his basement in the Swedish town of Örnsköldsvik. In the years that followed, Ake’s stubborn belief that there must always be a practical solution to staying comfortable while outdoors meant the company’s range expanded rapidly.
Building on the success of its early backpacks, Fjällräven launched the first ever double-layered tent in 1964. This was followed four-years later by Fjӓllrӓven’s history-defining Greenland Jacket and the introduction of its durable and adaptable, G-1000 fabric. Over the next few decades, these innovations were joined by products you’ll recognise from the current collection. The Kånken in 1978, the Canada Shirt in 1976 and later on, in 1999, the Vidda Trousers. Largely unchanged since they were first introduced, these and all other Fjällräven product are designed with the brand’s characteristic timeless design, making them just as popular today as when they were originally launched.
Fjӓllrӓven is arguably best known for its G-1000 fabric. Used across the brand’s extensive range of clothing and backpacks, G-1000 is a tightly woven blend of polyester and cotton. Originally featured on the Greenland Jacket in 1968, its ultra-functional qualities have won it a legion of fans worldwide. Not only incredibly hardwearing, G-1000 is breathable, wind-resistant and when impregnated with the brand’s Greenland Wax (a mix of beeswax and paraffin), can be made highly water-resistant too.
From everyday outdoor adventures to technical mountain treks, Fjӓllrӓven’s collection now includes clothing and equipment for all types of outdoor-enthusiasts.

Petromax is a market leading German manufacturer of equipment for outdoor cooking and living; its coordinated product range combines tradition, innovation and style in a unique way.
All Petromax products are of premium quality, durability and feature elaborate details. Experiencing raw nature with traditional and yet well-designed equipment is the focus of their product world. The Petromax range is available through a well-developed and sophisticated international network of more than 3000 shops and specialised retailers and, of course, via their online shop.
The management of Petromax consists of Jonas Taureck and Dr Pia Christin Taureck. At its headquarters in Magdeburg, they develop, promote, commission and ship their products in addition to operating a manufacturing facility.
The Petromax product range is rooted in the legendary high-pressure lamp which Max Graetz invented more than 100 years ago. At the beginning of 2007, Jonas Taureck acquired the trademark rights and resumed the production of this iconic and once innovative high-pressure lamp. The success of the Petromax lamp opened his eyes for the charm of outdoor equipment and the entire product world that Petromax has systematically entered.

We are first and foremost a family run bushcraft company employing a small close knit and highly experienced team of individuals. Together we hope to bring you the very best in Bushcraft & Survival courses both in the UK and overseas bushcraft training courses and experiences.
Over the years since Woodland Ways’ inception we have become widely recognised for the diversity of courses we operate and the utmost attention to detail and professionalism imparted on those courses.
Our delivery of activities on courses has safety, enjoyment and learning at the forefront of everything we do. By an appropriate blend of explanation, demonstration and participation you will be encouraged to gain as much hands on experience of bushcraft as possible.
We operate courses the year round in a range of outdoor arenas from our own diverse British woodlands, to the far flung reaches of the African bush and the wilder places of Europe. The natural environment supports us, inspires us and is fundamental to our businesses success. As such we have a very strong message of environmental sustainability and sensitivity. Woodland management and respect of flora and fauna feature throughout all of our courses.
Our ethos is designed to show you how to have a minimum reliance on modern materials and equipment and instead to really work with nature and her seasonal variability for your comfort and needs out of doors.
It is important for us to clearly state we do not promote heavy handed boot camp approaches to our activities and neither do we rely on a more spiritual ethos (although we respect both traditions) rather we see ourselves as non-romantic, practical woods people. We want you to leave our bushcraft courses with a new skill set and great memories.
